Language and history

Gujarati is our root. The language took shape in medieval Gujarat, in a culture that has long held vegetarian food as a discipline. We want to support teaching and publishing that keep Gujarati alive.

Indian history is taught in gaps. Ordinary accounts jump from Ashoka to Harshavardhana to the Delhi Sultanate, and centuries in between go quiet — for Indians and for everyone else. A manuscript record running into the millions is still mostly unread. We will support work that recovers and shares facts, because a clear account of where we have been is part of deciding where we should go.
